This Week: Television Fest, Park Activities

Today, the inaugural New York Television Festival commences with a party at Phillips dePury & Company catered by Match Catering and Eventstyles and designed by Avi Adler, with screenings and discussions continuing through Monday at Milk Studios, SoHo House, and Phillips. Tomorrow, Carnegie Hall celebrates its opening night with a performance by the St. Petersburg Philharmonic and a gala at the Waldorf-Astoria. And also Thursday, Advertising Women of New York screens winning commercials from the Cannes Advertising Festival at the Sony IMAX Theater at Lincoln Square; The Catering Company is catering the event and Paint the Town Red is producing. Also Thursday Traditional Home magazine hosts its Classic Woman awards at the Westside Loft. Friday Developments in Literacy holds its gala at Cipriani

And on Saturday, Country Home magazine holds Be Creative New York, which brings home decor and food demos and seminars from the likes of decorating expert Katie Brown and caterer Serena Bass to Central Park. Saturday and Sunday, the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer begins and ends at South Street Seaport. Book signings, readings, and panel discussions fill Bryant Park on Sunday for The New York Times’ Great Read in the Park. Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown Monday. And on Tuesday, the Brooklyn Academy of Music kicks off its Next Wave Festival.
