This Week: Design Awards and BAM's Armani Gala

Summer may be over, but the Hamptons are hopping—if only for the Hamptons International Film Festival, which kicks off tonight, with screenings continuing through Sunday. On Thursday and Friday, we partner with Meetings & Conventions magazine for the Meeting and Event Style Show at Pier 94 (details about the show are here). Also Thursday, the American Red Cross in Greater New York celebrates its 100th anniversary and honors former president Bill Clinton at a benefit at the World Financial Center’s Winter Garden; Creative Edge Parties is catering. The Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation dinner comes to the Waldorf-Astoria Thursday evening. That same night, the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum presents its National Design awards at the museum. Aramark celebrates world cuisine with its International Guest Chef gala at the United Nations. The Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center benefits from the preview party on Thursday of the International Fine Art and Antique Dealers Show at the Seventh Regiment Armory; the fair opens to the public Friday and ends next Thursday.

This Saturday, the Friends of the High Line and the Meatpacking District Initiative benefit from the 20th anniversary celebration of Florent restaurant at the Roxy, cutely billed as the Bi-Decadent Ball. The party will feature numerous entertainers that have been featured at Florent’s famous festivals.

Monday, Swiss watch manufacturer Vacheron Constantin celebrates its 250th anniversary with a party at the New York Public Library, with catering by Olivier Cheng Catering and Events. Also Monday, Escada fetes its spring and summer 2006 collection with a cocktail party at the new Lotus Space benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Tuesday, Armani sponsors the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Next Wave gala at Skylight following a performance at the academy’s Gilman Opera House by Brazil’s Corpo Grupo. Also Tuesday, smiley TV foodie Rachael Ray celebrates the launch of her magazine, Everyday With Rachael Ray, at Café St. Bart’s.
