Some venues are built to look like apartments—like the APT bar. Some are former apartments, like the Campbell Apartment. But the Y Apartment, located in the former basketball court and mezzanine-level running track of the Chelsea YMCA on West 23rd Street, is a real residential dwelling that SoHo-based design and marketing firm the Apartment renovated into a trilevel living space. Available for event rental through January 2006 (when the buyer moves in), the stark, ultramodern, 7,500-square-foot space features five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, one main kitchen and two kitchenettes, two home theaters, an indoor garden, a living room, a home office, and a dining room.
