Last week the Saudi royal family purchased the Knickerbocker, the 16-story brick building on the corner of 42nd Street and Broadway currently used as office space. The New York Times reports that the family intends to turn the building into a five-star hotel with 250 to 300 rooms. The family will select an architect to renovate the space in the next two weeks. The new plans will have to be approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission.
