City Museum Starts Expansion

Mayor Michael Bloomberg and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn broke ground today on an addition to the Museum of the City of New York. The museum’s expansion—designed by Polshek Partnership Architects (the same firm that designed the Brooklyn Museum’s new entry pavilion in 2004)—will add 23,000 square feet of space to the Museum Mile institution, including a new curatorial center and gallery. The museum’s lobby will also be renovated as part of the project, which is scheduled for completion in 2008.
