Former Fairmont Washington, D.C. director of group sales Shannon Byrne Schneider has been promoted to director of sales and marketing. Schneider, who officially took on the new position last week, joined the Fairmont family in 2005. Before that she worked in several capacities at the Hilton hotels in Washington, most recently as the conference center’s director of sales. She is replacing Cynthia Sherer, who is the new director of sales and marketing at the Plaza Hotel in New York.
