The fashion industry can relax: Fashion Week is not moving from Bryant Park. According to an official press release today, IMG Fashion has reached an agreement with the city and the Parks Department to keep the tents at the Midtown park through February 2010, which gives the company more time to check out other possible spaces.
“We couldn’t be happier,” said IMG Fashion senior vice president Fern Mallis. “The event is synonymous with Bryant Park and, though the search for a new location continues with the mayor’s office and Parks Department, we are happy that all parties will be able to continue to plan for upcoming events while new locations are explored by IMG in concert with the city.”
Women's Wear Daily reports that other possible venues include the Port Authority's roof, although Mallis is hesitant to predict what will happen after the two-year extension.
