Amy Winehouse Offered Costume Institute Gig

London's Daily Mirror broke the news Tuesday that oft-rehabbed singer Amy Winehouse has been asked to entertain at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute gala in May.

While the story says Winehouse was offered $1 million for a performance, Met deputy vice president and chief communications officer Elyse Topalian told us, "A number of artists, including Amy Winehouse, have been considered for the entertainment portion of the [gala benefit]. It is incorrect that she was offered payment—this is a charity event, and no one is being paid."

As we told you back in October, the Met is running with a superheroes theme for the May 5 gala, with Giorgio Armani serving as honorary chair and George Clooney, Julia Roberts, and Vogue's Anna Wintour filling in as co-chairs.
