November 14, 2013: Twitter Innovation Helps Live Events, Roller Skating Parties Return, Paris Fashion Trade Shows Adapt to Keep Attendees

1. TWITTER INNOVATION HELPS LIVE EVENTS: A new service from Twitter will make it easier to sort through the most relevant information about live events. All Things D: “For many big events in Twitter’s past, the company has had to hand-hold some organizations—like, say, the Oscars—coaching them how to curate and showcase relevant tweets properly. Now, organizations large and small can do it on their own.” http://dthin.gs/1bAF3Qz

2. WHAT’S HIP NOW: ROLLER SKATING PARTIES: Ping-pong and boccie have had their moments. Now, the latest scene is at the roller skating rink. New York Times: “It was a Wednesday night at Crazy Legs Skate Club, a weekly dance party on wheels that attracts all levels of the roller strata: first-wave roller disco denizens who never gave up the fight, a new generation of skate devotees and a smattering of hip Brooklynites.” http://nyti.ms/1aUagBp

3. PARIS FASHION TRADE SHOWS ADAPT TO KEEP ATTENDEES: New venues, brand identities, and floor layouts are among the changes for fashion and design trade shows in Paris to retain attendance. Women’s Wear Daily: “The shows are to take place amid a lackluster retail climate in France. According to data from the French Fashion Institute, or IFM, sales of apparel dropped 2 percent in the first nine months of 2013.” http://bit.ly/1a7HQSG
