Bathroom fixtures aren't sexy. Neither are store openings--usually. But Susan Magrino Agency sexed up the new Waterworks store on East 57th with some near-naked bathing beauties. A crew of AMWs (actor-model-waiters) from Dan Taylor & the Party Crew--clad only in towels and tans--sat in the store's tubs, sipped cosmos and pretended to read The Wall Street Journal. (Models? The Journal? That's acting.) Nice work if you can get it.
The people with their clothes on seemed to have a good time, too, sipping drinks from the bar from Lot 61 and nibbling on sushi rolls from Dan Taylor. Flowers and floating votive candles also brought an elegant touch, and lounge music from DJ Andy Anderson added to the fun atmosphere of the event, which was organized by Scott Currie of Susan Magrino.
Outside was a velvet rope from Dan Taylor and a tub with a bubble machine from Balloon Saloon sending bubbles out to 57th Street and attracting a few curious passers-by (who were turned away from the private party). Another unusual view inside: With the tubs taken, a few guests took refuge sitting on the toilets.
