In the hours before the MS Walk started, 5,400 walkers took over the plaza at the World Trade Center to register for the walk's various routes throughout lower Manhattan and Brooklyn Heights. Walkers could choose from a 2.5-, 7.5- or 12.5-mile walk.
At the entry to the plaza--the start and finish point for the walk--a large, colorful balloon arch created by L & S Cards greeted those willing to walk the streets to raise money for the New York City chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Signage produced by APCG Productions guided walkers around the plaza to various registration lines. As walkers finalized their registration, they made their way around the plaza where volunteers passed out refreshments and snacks donated by numerous sponsors.
