Matt Shendell, the president of Paige Restaurant Group, has reopened his former fondue café in Murray Hill, Dip, as a sports lounge and event space called the Hill. The spot received a full renovation that included redesigning the decor, adding more amenities, and expanding the space by 300 square feet. Shendell partnered with nightlife promoters Perry Lee and Mike Zandman to relaunch the venue, which held its soft opening last month and is currently available for events seven days a week.
With some minor changes to the layout of the Third Avenue location, the focus of the renovation was the interior design. The decor is now more neutral and dominated by chocolate brown tones and soft lighting. Wood features prominently in the look of the Hill, found in the multitone wall paneling, covering the floor, and on the surface of the tables. The seating here—banquettes, cocktail stools, and low-slung ottomans—is upholstered in brown leather, and the cream-colored walls complement the overall color palette.
Equipped with 25 high-definition, wall-mounted TVs, a projection screen, and WiFi Internet access throughout, this 5,500-square-foot site is suitable for cocktail events as well as seated presentations and meetings. Additionally, a balcony area overlooking the main bar and lounge can be used for private groups.
The entire space seats 250 or holds 565 for receptions. There are an additional 40 seats on the patio.
