1. INSURANCE INTEREST UP: More planners are looking into event cancellation insurance after Superstorm Sandy, with brokers reporting an increase of about 15 percent in the number of calls about weather-related cancellation coverage. “It’s a delicate balance you as a manager have to strike in hedging your bets when you’re looking at the bottom line,” said Jasmine Nielsen, executive director of AIDS-education nonprofit Love Heals, which takes out an insurance policy every year for an annual outdoor event the group holds at a horse farm in the Hamptons. 2. ROBOT BARTENDER: The Skytender Trolley is an automated bartender for airlines. Mashable: "Mounted onto the same kind of trolley flight attendants use today, the Skytender works like a soft drink dispenser at a fast-food joint. It can mix up 15 different drinks, and the system lets airlines choose more than 100 different beverages or flavors to offer passengers, including hot and cold drinks—even wine." http://bit.ly/UfaRRV
3. BASEL BREAKDOWN: DuJour breaks down the menu and quick details from several events from this year's Art Basel Miami Beach. One highlight: at Hublot, the Collection Ferrari, and Domingo Zapata's party at the SLS, guests were given orange shawls to "to ward off the chill." http://bit.ly/RrRtF2

5. TRADE SHOW DEAL: Specialty Equipment Market Association has purchased the International Motorsports Industry Show. New York Times: "As a part of the plan going forward, SEMA plans to combine the I.M.I.S. show with the racing industry’s other big trade show, the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show, which SEMA also purchased earlier this year." The combined shows will take place in Indianapolis next December. http://nyti.ms/TRXrhA
