Winemaker Twin Fin's breezy philosophy, according to its Web site and press materials, is, "We believe in sunny days, not dark cellars." Appropriately, the slightly irreverent screw-top wine manufacturers celebrated one year on the market with a very California party at the Surfing Heritage Foundation, a venue that houses Orange County's surf history collection.Twin Fin associate brand manager Mandy Roth tapped Orange County-based Propaganda to manage the event, which drew many of its guests straight from beach cleanups organized by the Surfrider Foundation in honor of International Surfing Day—or June 21, for the uninitiated. (A portion of proceeds from Twin Fin wine sales goes to the foundation.) Peter Townsend, the first World Surfing champion, was also among the crowd.
The party featured a tasting of Twin Fin wines and a demo the proper way to open a screw cap bottle. The Ken Garcia Band entertained the crowd with Latin-inspired beats and Hawaiian rhythms.
