Vintage and reproduction decor pieces from around the world—like Buddha sculptures and a massive vintage airplane—make the Upper East Side Andrew Martin furniture showroom a fresh choice for an event venue. The former movie theater, a bilevel space with a water wall adjacent to the staircase and 21-foot ceilings on the ground level, opened in October and hosted its first event in December. Although some of the more delicate pieces from the furniture collection are removed for events, a variety of lamps, couches and accessories provide lighting, seating and decor; red cocktails and sticky foods are prohibited to protect the pieces that remain. The space can accommodate 400 for cocktails, and the showroom will only host events for organizations with an art or design focus. —Alesandra Dubin
