Another luxury lifestyle club has entered Washington, courtesy of concierge company International Lifestyles. The Space, a members-only club that opened on July 17, claims that it hopes to attract an eclectic mix—from politicians to artists, professionals to homemakers.

In a 100-year-old carriage house in the historic Shaw district, the Space utilizes refurbished glass garage doors at the entrance, remnant of the car-repair shop that was housed in the building for more than 30 years. The venue’s raw but elegant decor features white brick walls, exposed ductwork, and concrete floors, accented by wingback chairs, black velvet banquettes, and glass chandeliers. With no on-site kitchen, tapas-style menu offerings designed by Chef Paul Yellin are brought in for members, and a full-service bar is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 4 p.m. until 2 a.m., making the Space an option for business entertaining or small gatherings. The 1,100-square-foot lower level holds 100, while the 400-square-foot upper-level loft can hold 20 for private meetings or dinners. Members also have access to the alfresco 900-square-foot terrace.
