The 7,000-square-foot Architecture and Design Museum has moved from its original downtown location to its new Wilshire Boulevard home. The 4,500-square-foot main gallery features a regular rotation of architecture and interior, landscape, fashion, and product design exhibitions of work by regional, national, and international designers, some of which can be a backdrop for events.
As a blank slate, the east, west, and north walls have floor-to-ceiling windows (some with views of a fountain and Lacma), which let in abundant natural light. Richard Meier & Partners designed the lighting grid. There's a staging area for caterers, easy access for loading and unloading, and underground parking and valet. With its 2,000-square-foot courtyard, the A&D holds 1,000.
