David Adjaye, principal architect of London-based Adjaye Associates and Design Miami's Designer of the Year, designed the triangular pavilion "Genesis," a temporary structure on Miami Beach. The exhibit's architecture is composed of hundreds of vertical wooden planks that morph from the exterior into the interior with seating, curved windows, and doors created for onlookers to experience. Since the timber that makes up "Genesis" is not completely fused, light is able to filter into the structure from the roof and exterior. This is Adjaye's first large piece of work that features architectural furniture. The structure serves as the entrance and exit to the fair, which runs through Sunday.
