Members of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum's Young Collectors Council gathered in the museum lobby for A High Style Halloween, a Halloween ball that raised funds for the museum. The array of costumes coupled with the loud dance music provided by brothers DJ Eddie Muentes and DJ Spark gave the event the feel of a fancy frat party.
Costumed revelers included a woman dressed as a picnic table, a man in hospital scrubs with rubber chickens strapped to his back and stomach, and an Andy Warhol look-alike draped in handmade Campbell's Soup can labels. The grand prize for best costume--a Paul Smith weekend bag courtesy of event sponsor Luxlook.com--went to a partygoer dressed as King Louis.
Guests nibbled on Halloween candy and hors d'oeuvres donated by numerous Manhattan restaurants and served by the Guggenheim's contract caterer, Restaurant Associates. Brightly colored Halloween illuminations by Stortz Lighting were projected on the walls of the museum and guests were allowed to view the Giorgio Armani exhibit, provided they left behind their drinks from the Absolut bar. The ghoulishly themed concoctions (with names like "Absolut Trick," "Absolut Treat," "Absolut Cauldron" and "Absolut Specter") were served in Absolut-logoed martini glasses.
