High society and high fashion—those complimentary bedfellows—converged for a chic celebration of glamour at the Young Fellows of the Frick Collection's annual benefit at the museum, sponsored by Christian Dior. The event was coordinated by the Frick's manager of special events, Hilary Ewing, and its manager of development, Martin Duus.
The event, which also served as an unofficial society kickoff to Fashion Week, featured decor designed and produced by fashion show production company Bureau Betak. The front entrance's hallway to the Garden Court featured a dizzying display of gold mirrors and red light, and inside the court, silver and gold mannequins with black and white feather headdresses sat atop large mirrored gold cubes. Two hundred small spinning disco balls filled the fountains, creating a shimmering, sparkly lighting effect. Bars inside the court were also covered with mirrored gold, and circular cutouts illuminated with warm yellow lights decorated the tops of the bars.
The Music Room was transformed into a disco, with rows of flashing vertical lights lining the walls and a large disco ball suspended over the DJ booth. Dior flew in Parisian DJ David Guetta for the event, who had the socialites jumping up on the DJ platform dancing to hip-hop.
