Angeles-based company, JS Enterprises (also responsible for the White Party Palm Springs). Working with Designs by Sean and New Century Dance Company, JS Enterprises made sure that the party reflected its surroundings: Parrot Jungle Island is home to 1,100 tropical birds and 2,000 varieties of plants and flowers.
This annual event for the gay and lesbian community is now in its fourth year and the Miami New Year's Eve event planner has looked to Designs by Sean in years past to create the décor. "The evening was about bringing the outdoors inside," said Designs by Sean's producer Michelle Facey about the environmentally-inspired décor.
The entrance featured a garden tunnel, with up-lit, green-netted palm tree tubes and a nighttime woods scene mural. A tiger's eye watched over those entering the space, while hand painted murals of tropical birds and butterflies hung in the main room. A large mural of a lion's face peered out onto the dance floor from behind the DJ. Ambient lighting by Garrett Production Group kept the crowd glowing green.
At midnight, revelers were able to view the city fireworks and the skyline from the veranda. A full bar, provided by the ballroom, was located on the veranda as well. Back on the dance floor, as boys danced unabashedly to the sounds of Abel's spinning, New Century Dance Company had its dancers accompany the eclectic drag queens on the stage during their performances. It was a late night in the jungle and those alert enough to continue dancing were invited to do so at the official after-party at nearby Maze.
