When the owners of Spider Club threw a bash to celebrate the venue’s one-year anniversary, they didn’t have to look far for the means to make it happen. Co-owners Steve Adelman and John Lyons, along with Spider Club general manager Laurie Mulstay and creative director of special events Donovan Leitch (yes, that Donovan Leitch), used their own creativity and resources, finding inspiration in Amsterdam’s red light district. The club’s sultry atmosphere was enhanced with red lighting, Moroccan beds that doubled as lounge spaces, and scantily clad bartenders.
Evolutionary Media Group helped ensure a star turnout. And turn out they did. Celebs including Kirsten Dunst, Michael Vartan, and Jessica Simpson all showed up, some sporting red attire. And what Hollywood nightclub fete would be complete without omnipresent red carpet icon Paris Hilton as hostess?
Effen Vodka sponsored the event, adding a top-shelf touch to the copious cosmopolitans. Spider Club chef Keith Silverton whipped up mini cheeseburgers with caramelized onions, rock shrimp fritters, Moroccan spiced seared tuna, and Bloody Mary prawns. DJ Kelly Cole kept the party going until 4 AM—late by California standards.
