Best Tabletop Design
The Wedding Salon Bridal Show
Submitted by Event Design Inc.
For this bridal show, Event Design Inc. set out to create a beautiful, luxurious tabletop that wasn't ostentatious. The result was a round piece of beveled glass showing 3,000 fuchsia roses below, topped with formal china, silverware, and stemware. Framed menus individually penned by a calligrapher, monogrammed Irish linen napkins, crystal candlesticks, and an arrangement of pink peonies completed the look.
Best Staging/Set Design
James Beard Foundation Awards
Submitted by Overland Entertainment
With last year's James Beard Foundation food industry awards billed as a tribute to Julia Child, the producers at Overland looked no further than Child's own kitchen for inspiration for the set. Designer Paula Longendyke went to the Smithsonian National Museum of American History's permanent exhibit of the famous gourmand's kitchen, and worked closely with the curator to add detailed touches to the stage. Decor included turquoise green cabinets, walls hung with pots and pans, posters of cats (a favorite of Child's), and shelves lined with cookbooks.

Glamour Magazine's Women of the Year Awards
Submitted by Overland Entertainment
Glamour's annual awards got off to a powerful start, with Mary J. Blige singing U2's "One" with members of the New Orleans Children's Chorus. A steady stream of formidable women and high-profile presenters followed. Steven Spielberg introduced Melissa Etheridge, Meg Ryan introduced Christiane Amanpour, Queen Latifah introduced Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Maureen Dowd introduced Mary Robinson, the first female president of Ireland. With dramatic videos telling the honorees' tales, the audience responded with numerous standing ovations.

Private Financial Institution's Employee Event
Submitted by Empire Force Events
To celebrate a private finance firm's most recent quarter, Empire Force Events created a facsimile of the legendary Studio 54, populated by more than 50 entertainers, including several look-alikes recreating the fabled scene: While faux Andy Warhol, Elton John, Liza Minelli, and Cher made elaborate
entrances, Steve Rubell manned the door with security guards. Inside, go-go dancers thrashed in cages, trapeze performers swung overhead, and stylists passed out club accessories prior to performances from the Village People and an acrobatic duo.
