Designer Betsey Johnson launched her eponymous new scent amid the comforts of home—her own Greenwich Village apartment was the location for a gathering of 55 beauty editors and fragrance execs. Johnson’s signature fun, flirty look was apparent, since the decor was all her own: personal effects like family photos were mixed with assorted knickknacks and strewn with rose petals. The designer redecorated her apartment a few weeks before the event, and for the party purchased the flowers and put together the arrangements herself. Johnson’s PR staff worked with Alison Brod Public Relations to coordinate the event.

Designer Betsey Johnson launched her new signature fragrance in her apartment, which was festively filled with hot pink balloons with streamers.

Johnson herself took care of decor for the party—which wasn’t difficult since she’d redecorated the apartment a few weeks before the launch.

Johnson cut into the leopard print and rose patterned cake that Sylvia Weinstock created for the party.

Servers passed appropriately pink drinks—watermelon martinis from Callahan Catering—on cute trays lined with images of the fragrance bottle. (Pink cotton candy was another fun catering touch.)

The cake matched the fragrance boxes, which were stacked on a large table dotted with bottles of the scent, rose petals, and the designer’s own decorative objects.

A variety of Johnson’s bric-a-brac served as bowls for candy, amid a scattering of rich pink rose petals.
