The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) gets more attention for its work with cats and dogs, but the organization originally began offering its services in 1866 largely to horses and livestock. And so, echoing this history, the ASPCA’s Young Friends benefit last week at Lotus Space took on many horse and western-inspired elements.
Jaimee Himmel, the organization’s senior manager of events, worked with American Foliage & Design Group, which handled all decor for the party and created a cute railroad-tie style fence for the red carpet and step and repeat area, as well as a roomy seating area that was fenced in like a corral and outfitted with decorative saddles and faux hay carpet. Bales of hay ringed the venue’s large square columns and were topped with bags of caramel corn for the taking; Dylan’s Candy Bar also supplied buckets of horse-shaped lollipops.
