Gotham Hall took on a glamorous, glittering vibe for the premiere party for Dreamgirls, the DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures screen version of the Broadway show. Visually, the event was a reflection of the show-business world depicted in the film: There were expanses of shiny ShimmerScreen curtains made from strands of polished aluminum beads hanging from the ceiling, towering arrangements of white and red feathers on bars and near buffets, and a sparkling golden carpet covering the central part of the venue’s large oval hall.Although Beyoncé skipped the party (she reportedly left after the Ziegfeld Theatre screening to celebrate boyfriend Jay-Z’s birthday), 1,000 guests did attend, among them the film’s other stars, Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy, as well as Spike Lee, Andre Leon Talley, Liam Neeson, and Natasha Richardson. DreamWorks’ Chip Sullivan oversaw the event and worked with Paul Cunliffe of Strive Associates to produce the after-party. Cunliffe and Bobby Taylor of Taylor Creative Inc. collaborated on the design of the space, which incorporated modern furniture and accessories from Taylor’s rental division. While the film doesn’t officially open until Christmas, a three-city road tour of screenings hits New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco from December 15 to 24.

The focal point of the space was a large central bar crowned with a trio of massive arrangements with white feathers.

Two ends of Gotham Hall's main oval hall had long shimmering curtains that hung over lounge areas and made for a unique surface for light projections.

Glittering gold carpet from Italy filled the main lounge and bar area.

Portions of the hall’s main room featured rows of rectangular tables that radiated from the curved walls, giving the space supper club feel.

The beaded curtains were reminiscent of sparkling sets from performances in the film.
