The Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants Group is bringing its Hotel Monaco brand to historic Old Town Alexandria, renovating the former Holiday Inn Select. The $22 million makeover, helmed by CRD Inc. designer Cheryl Rowley, is slated to be complete this summer. The hotel will offer 5,121 square feet of meeting space, with seven rooms ranging from 400 to 2,400 square feet, in addition to an open-air courtyard in the center of the building. The 241 Wi-Fi-equipped guest rooms will feature clock radios with iPod docking stations, 37-inch LCD flat-panel televisions, and funky animal-print robes. Some rooms will have balconies overlooking the courtyard, and a few will be bilevel loft-style suites. The hotel’s restaurant, Jackson 20, is a slated to open this fall and will be contemporary with a colonial slant, in keeping with the historical location.
