Paul Fazzari, the exclusive agent for Pal Zileri in Canada, teamed up with Hazelton Lanes fashion boutique Via Cavour to stage a benefit showcasing the designer’s fall clothing line. Jazz singer Matt Dusk provided entertainment for the Canadian Cancer Society fund-raiser, performing on a makeshift stage in the Hazelton Lanes courtyard.
Batlights beamed 7,000 watts of coloured light into the air outside the Yorkville shopping centre to help guide guests to the entrance. Seventh Heaven Fine Catering and Event Production worked wonders to disguise the mall’s lacklustre interior, transforming the unlikely venue into an elegant cocktail lounge and intimate concert theatre.
Decor with Grandeur furnished the lounge with eight white leather sofas and four white coffee tables adorned with vases of white calla lilies. Tall copa tables covered in black cloth and topped with white roses were scattered around the room, providing guests with places to rest their Alfa Cappuccino espressos.Chair-man Mills supplied more than 250 black folding chairs for the courtyard musical performance and fashion show. Twenty-foot white drapes hung from rigging inside the space to create an intimate setting. Soundscape Visual and Logistics supplied the sound and lighting, as well as the 16- by 36- foot stage on which Dusk performed.
To prepare the Italian inspired hors d’oeuvres for the event, Seventh Heaven commandeered a vacant retail store in the mall. From their makeshift kitchen, the company chefs put the finishing touches on finger foods such as Sicilian eggplant fritters with parmigiano aioli.
Seventh Heaven’s chefs also manned a food station in the corner of the event space, preparing and serving Prosciutto, cuttlefish, and oyster mushroom risotto topped with braised quail breasts and Dijon jus accompanied by a wild mushroom consommé.
The runway show closed out the night. Soundscape Visual and Logistics provided a two-tiered circular platform for the models to stand on while showing off Pal Zileri’s latest designs.
