United States Cold Storage, a logistics provider for the frozen and refrigerated food industry, held a special dinner at the Ribault Club on Fort George Island following its 2008 management meeting at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island. Company execs enlisted the help of Active Escapes, a premier northeast Florida D.M.C., to bring the 1920s-themed event to life.
As guests were escorted from their hotel to the Ribault Club for the Roaring Twenties-themed dinner party, flappers, mobsters, cigarette girls, and other era personalities, provided by Wise Guys, entertained them. Upon arrival, guests were provided with black fedoras for the men and flapper headbands and long pearl necklaces for the ladies.Approaching the reception, guests were greeted by servers with drinks and two antique cars in the driveway. A personal cigar roller from CF Dominicana Cigar Catering in a straw hat wowed the crowd with his technique.
Inside the club, the tables were draped in black and white linens from Connie Duglin Specialty Linen and topped with simple centerpieces of white calla lilies, candles, pearl necklaces, and plumes. For dinner, guests enjoyed a petite greens salad and a buffet of New York strip petit filet hangar steaks, citrus-spiked chicken breasts, and grilled salmon, courtesy of the Ritz-Carlton.
To round out the meal, guests were escorted by the entertaining characters from Wise Guys into a speakeasy-style lounge area for dessert. A Keystone Cop and gangster required guests to submit a special password before gaining entry into the blue-lit gambling lounge. The soft yet colorful lighting, provided by Sight & Sound Productions, throughout the club added to the ambience while guests gambled the night away at the blackjack and craps tables and the Zac Chester Quartet played classic jazz.
