Beginning this Friday, the Museum of the City of New York takes an in-depth look at the impact that creative efforts pouring out of New York and Paris had on modern civilization with its exhibition "Paris/New York: Design Fashion Culture 1925–1940." The show will take a look at the way artists and designers from each city exchanged ideas to create new styles in the areas of architecture and design, fashion, film, and the performing arts. Works by powerhouse talents like Coco Chanel and Salvador Dali will be examined along with examples of the still-popular and influential Art Deco movement, through drawings, decorative objects, costumes, furnishings, film, photographs, and posters. Planners may inquire with the museum about group tours, and the exhibit's accompanying book ($50) makes for a suitable gift. The show runs through February 22.
