Piccolo Sogno, Italian for "little dream," overtook the former Thyme space in July. The River West restaurant serves seasonal Italian fare prepared with local and Italian ingredients, and house specialties include hand-stuffed mozzarella with prosciutto and paglia e fieno, a dish of green and white ribbon noodles topped with braised veal ragu.
Italian fixtures such as terrazzo floors, Venetian plaster walls, and Murano glass chandeliers spruce up the space. The marble that tops the 1930s Art Deco-style bar is also Italian.
The 77-seat main dining room features an antipasti table and a wood-burning oven, while a private wine room, accented with wallpaper from the Italian countryside, seats 32. Outside, a secluded, wicker furniture-filled patio seats 120 during the warmer months, and owners plan to enclose and heat a section of the patio for outdoor dining this winter.
