Mother-of-pearl wallpaper, blue tiger's eye stone, and African Bubinga hardwood are just some of the exotic materials found throughout One Eleven Yorkville—a champagne and caviar bar set to open at the corner of Yorkville and Hazelton avenues this week. Anwar Mukhayesh of the Design Agency (and host of The Designer Guys) filled the lounge with high-end pieces. "It was all about texture and warmth, and because it is subterranean, we didn't want it to look like a small room," he said.
A sculptural ceiling fixture—designed by Zac Ridgely and made of gold anodized aluminum—hangs above the bar, which is topped with African Bubinga wood, wrapped in Maya Romanoff's mother-of-pearl wallpaper, and surrounded by custom caramel-coloured leather stools from Nienkamper. "We're trying to make a statement that we are the fashion spot," owner Michael Etherington said. "We are not open to the public. It is by reservation only and we cater to the highest level of clientele."
David Adjey, known for his appearances on Restaurant Makeover, created the menu. Chris Scott is the executive chef. The lounge will serve premium champagnes like Cristal, Dom Perignon, and Moët & Chandon. The menu features 70 varieties of oysters as well as sturgeon, white sturgeon, and Beluga caviar. The One Eleven signature champagne cocktail—a mixture of Roberto Cavalli vodka, macerated raspberries, and Dom Perignon champagne–is garnished with a rose petal and priced at $111.
The space, open from 6 p.m. daily, seats 60 and holds 120 for receptions. An outdoor patio will seat 40.
