Part restaurant, part nightclub, Bancroft SupperClub opened in June in the former Bancroft Hotel on Collins Avenue. The 6,000-square-foot venue has been restored to showcase its original Art Deco style with terrazzo floors, colored glass light fixtures, and geometric stencil detailing throughout.
The main space, which serves dinner Thursday through Saturday from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., is perforated with L-shaped black leather banquettes and has a 20-foot elevated runway that bisects its 100 seats. Suitable for fashion shows and live performances as well as dinner service, the space may also be cleared to host as many as 325 for a reception.
A lounge area to the right of the dining room can host 40 and boasts a marble-topped bar for about 10. Plasma screen TVs dot the ceiling, displaying a live feed of the activity in the main dining room. A partially covered patio can seat an additional 35.
Chef Tim Andriola (of the acclaimed Timo restaurant) designed the dinner-only menu of dishes made with organic produce, artisan cheeses, and sustainable fish.
Additionally, a second-floor lounge is scheduled to open later this year and will span more than 5,000 square feet, house multiple bars, and accommodate as many as 350.
