Officially opened on April 23 in the space formerly occupied by Stinker's Truck Stop in Silverlake, the Thirsty Crow is the latest effort from 1933 Group, creators of the Bigfoot Lodge, Little Cave, and Saints and Sinners. The venue, whose name comes from one of Aesop's fable, focuses on the tradition of American small-batch bourbons. The Thirsty Crow states the goal of bucking the trend toward complicated cocktails in favor of straightforward offerings like whiskey shots. Nevertheless, classic cocktails are available using organically grown and locally sourced ingredients.
The diminutive space holds about 80, and may be available for buyout on a case-by-case basis.
The venue does not serve food, but guests may bring it in; Local restaurant is right next door.
As for decor, designer Bobby Green says, "The bar is meant to feel timeless, however without putting a [specific] date stamp on it. I designed the bar around the golden era of early America, post-Depression but before the flamboyant period of post-World War II. Simple, subtle, and elegant."
