The 170-seat Turkish restaurant and bar Agora opened May 24 in Dupont Circle. Architectural details in the 960-square-foot eatery include exposed brick walls, concrete floors, and primitive metal pendant lamps. Brick archways separate the 76-seat main dining room from the bar and lounge.
Chef Rasit Gulsen’s menu includes Turkish and Greek small plates prepared in a wood-fired oven and on a charcoal grill. The beverage program highlights anise-flavored ouzo as well as Mediterranean wines and beers.
A wall of glass sets off the new staircase to an upstairs expansion. Slated to open in late June, it seats 48 for private dining. A patio seats an additional 34 guests. Agora is available for buyout.
