Metis Tarta-Steck hosted the official U.S. launch party for her furniture company, EsVedra Designs, on Friday night. To create a sense of mystery for the unveiling of her 2010 collection, Tarta-Steck went with a masquerade theme and provided the 400 guests with masks upon arrival.
“We’ve been operating for a good year, and have existing Miami customers like Ferrari, but we never properly introduced ourselves to the Miami crowd,” Tarta-Steck said.
Held in a private mansion in Miami Beach, the event brought together a mix of designers, artists, and architects. Tarta-Steck worked with event coordinators at the BRPR Group to arrange the line’s 20 tables, chairs, loungers, and mirrors in a livable setting throughout the house.
About an hour after arrivals, Tarta-Steck welcomed guests, and artist Elisabetta Fantone presented the designer with a portrait she painted of her. At this time guests were able to unveil themselves by removing their masks.
V&E Restaurant Group served passed hors d’oeuvres of chicken skewers with teriyaki sauce, crab meat and cheese crostini, and Italian meat puff pastry bites, accompanied by cocktails made with Zacapa Rum, provided by liquor sponsor Diageo.
DJ Johnny the Boy performed on the balcony over the pool while the Encore Chamber Players string quartet entertained inside the house.
