After six months of building and renovating, Charles Khabouth's La Société opened its hand-painted doors on Bloor Street in June. Styled after a 1920s Parisian bistro, the second-floor restaurant has a large dining room, bar, and two patios.
Marble mosaic tiling covers the floors of the 7,000-square-foot bistro. The bar space is separated from the restaurant and can be booked for semiprivate events. Lined with a marble bar and matching tables, the space can hold 200 for a cocktail reception. Around the corner, under a 20- by 30-foot stained-glass ceiling, circular leather booths fill the 240-seat dining room, which is available for buyout on a case-by-case basis.
Outside, the venue offers 2,000 square feet of patio space. The upper patio can seat 50 and overlooks Bloor Street, while the lower patio seats 80 at street level and comes furnished with its own bar and grill. Open for as long as weather permits, the patios can accommodate semiprivate functions for as many as 200 guests.
La Société executive chef James Olberg serves modern Parisian cuisine until late seven days a week, with brunch on the weekends. Special event menus are available.
