The 1,200-square-foot Lamont Bishop Gallery opened in Mt. Vernon Square in March 2011. The venue can host groups of 60 to 140 in Gallery A and 25 to 60 in Gallery B, which is also equipped with a fully-stocked bar for events. (1314 9th Street NW, 646.706.8884)

Art gallery FotoSpace opened in Adams Morgan in August and is available for corporate meetings and workshops, with special discounts for arts-affiliated groups. The 2,500-square-foot space accommodates 200 guests and includes patio seating. (1838 Columbia Road NW, 202.337.3686)

While officially buying the building before the gala was always the goal, event planner Sam Palmer was careful to ensure the gathering would be successful even if the timing didn’t work out. “We had a million different plans, because quite frankly, a million details needed to go right for that to happen,' he said. 'Our leadership and board worked very, very hard to get us across the finish line, and it was a beautiful moment.”
