Alliance de Francaise de Chicago Biennial Gala

Dubbed “Le Bal Magique du Maroc,” the May 12 gala at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago was inspired by a Moroccan garden, and scent was important in bringing the vibe to life. For dinner tables in the ballroom, Kim Merlin of KKM Designs grouped Moroccan tea glasses, floating white roses, candles, lanterns, and bowls filled with fruits such as figs, oranges, and mangoes added to the look and the aroma.

Vault Magazine By Barton G. Launch Party

A crane lowered a boxing ring into the backyard of the Villa By Barton G. in Miami Beach for a surprise boxing match at the launch of Vault Magazine By Barton G. May 11. The impromptu entertainment was just one element at the flashy soiree, which featured magazine-themed décor, a decadent backyard bar scene, and a few other fun surprises such as a "peep show" in which guests entered a private upstairs boudoir with a makeshift glass wall, configured with peepholes for peeking in on models and other guests.

Vegas Uncork’d by ‘Bon Appetit’

Further advancing the city's new reputation as a bona fide, world-class foodie destination is the annual Vegas Uncork'd by Bon Appétit magazine, which just wrapped after taking over town from May 10 through 13, offering an array of meals, tastings, and even a poker tournament. The centerpiece is the event's Grand Tasting, now in its sixth year, which set new attendance records. Selling out in advance for the first time, the event drew more than 2,500 people who took over the Garden of the Gods pool at Caesars Palace, tasting items from the town's most notable chefs and restaurants. Chef Gordon Ramsay made his debut appearance at the Grand Tasting, offering his beef wellington and sticky toffee pudding.

Swatch Pop-Up Launch and Award Ceremony

The watch purveyor Swatch intended to bring its brand to life on Friday with a Los Angeles event at art space Royal/T, also the home of Swatch's new pop-up shop. Hosted with the TTR World Snowboard Tour, the event celebrated the unveiling of this year's Swatch Art Rules Design contest winner. Following the ceremony, L.A.-based DJ and radio/TV host DJ Skee spun for the crowd and shared the stage with a surprise musical performer: Warren G. The look and feel of the event—and of the MannoMedia-produced pop-up shop over all—was meant to embrace what Swatch calls the four pillars of its brand: art, music, sports, and fashion.
