"Sweet 16" is a popular event theme this year—it is, after all, 2016. For events with sweets-inspired themes, here's a look at ideas ranging from "Popsicle trays" to ornate candy tables and more.

Blueprint's inflatable cherry cake is 240 inches round and 276 inches high.

Blueprint Studios rents out giant inflatable sweets as whimsical event decor. One offering: a pink gummy bear that’s more than seven feet tall.

Blueprint Studios also has an inflatable yellow doughnut that’s 64 inches high.

Its inflatable candy cane has pink-and-white stripes and is 144 inches tall.

The Joffrey Ballet feted its production of The Nutcracker with a dinner at Chicago's Palmer House Hilton in 2011. Inspired by the ballet's Land-of-Sweets setting, Kehoe Designs adorned the event with pieces of giant candy including swirly lollipops and Airheads packages. Overhead, a chandelier was decked with ribbons and more pieces of prop candy.

An outdoor candy land with whimsical custom decor set the tone at a launch for the opening of the brasserie Sugar Factory Ocean Drive in Miami last July. The step-and-repeat was flanked by a grass-covered wall studded with lollipops and other confections. Live It Productions International produced the event.

Celebrity host Kylie Jenner posed for pictures flanked by candy-bedecked entertainers at the event.

Closing down a stretch of Broadway near Union Square in New York, King launched its mobile game Candy Crush Soda Saga with a public performance that recreated the game's visuals on city streets in November. A 20-foot illuminated candy bear floated down Broadway to end the show.

Chicago production firm Revel Global Events hosted its annual Super Bowl bash at Chicago's Union Station last year. To reflect the event's colorful, Katy-Perry-inspired "Candyland" theme, the firm built a custom tray meant to look like a giant Popsicle. The tray carried snacks from Limelight Catering.

In 2014, 360 Live Media, a marketing and event firm in Washington, moved into its new offices and held an opening party for about 135 people in September. A candy bar—modeled on the company's own candy-stocked kitchen—stuck to the event's green theme. Guests could fill their own jam jars with treats.

In 2013, Contempo Media took over two floors of the Trump International Hotel & Tower Toronto to celebrate the launch of two new magazines. Decked with oversize paper flowers, an elaborate sweets display held trifles such as cupcakes and shoes made out of chocolate. Candice & Alison produced the event.

A smiling, clog-sporting jelly bean was on hand to pose with guests at the 2013 expo in Chicago. His home base was the giant Jelly Belly booth, which had a wall printed with jelly beans, a built-in step-and-repeat where guests could pose and snap pics with the jolly mascot.
