On June 15, one eleven events by Macy's hosted the BizBash 2016 Chicago Hall of Fame award ceremony, where five influential event planners were honored. Inducted into the Hall of Fame were: Tom Kehoe (Kehoe Designs), Carol McGury (SmithBucklin), Mary Ellen Caron (After School Matters), Kelley Butler (McDonald's), and Kelly Peacy (Insight Event Strategy).
The event was held in the Narcissus Room, located in the historic former Marshall Field's building, now Macy's on State Street. Drawing on art nouveau architectural elements in the space, one eleven events catering director Jennifer Rogers knew that the unique bottles and labels of Chicago distillery KOVAL liqueurs would be the perfect jumping-off point to create a beautiful and engaging garden party event.
Food
KOVAL's sponsorship led to the creation of the whimsical dessert station, one of the highlights of the event. Executive Chef Stephanie Monti featured five different KOVAL liqueurs in the desserts, as well as a sixth in a specialty cocktail. Canelés featured rose hip liqueur, a reverse affogato used the coffee liqueur to make a sorbet that was floated in sweet cream, and yuzu lemon mousse cones were garnished with jasmine liqueur pearls. The focal point of the dessert station was a custom-made ice staircase that displayed two different mini ice pops, using the chrysanthemum & honey and orange blossom liqueurs.
Decor
Continuing the garden party theme, florist A New Leaf created visually stunning centerpieces playing off the liqueur bottles. Working together to create an inviting and striking space, official sponsors CORT Furniture provided lounge furniture, Hall's Rental provided tables and service ware, Plus One AV used dramatic uplighting and audio, and Drape Kings draped the room in gold and ivory to complement the white, gold, and teal table linens from BBJ Linen. DJ Moose set the vibe while guests enjoyed interactive stations provided by The Laugh Box and Vosges Haut-Chocolat.
