With an arts background and formal training in theater, television, and grand opera, the New York-based Beahm infuses theater and art in his design approach. He first rose to prominence in 2001 when he designed the wedding of Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas; he now designs more than 150 corporate, social, and nonprofit events annually with David Beahm Experiences. His work in the past year has included the spring floral installation for Van Cleef & Arpels, and parties for the Tony-winning musical Hamilton in New York and Chicago.
On his design style: “I like to always honor Mother Nature. If we’re using flowers, we treat them the way they appear in nature. But I also like to incorporate a little humor and whimsy and not be afraid to be tongue-in-cheek when the setting calls for it.”
