10 Ideas for a ‘Bridgerton’-Inspired Event

After its debut in late 2020, hit series Bridgerton reigns as Netflix’s second biggest original series. Here, get inspired with event decor, entertainment, catering and floral ideas sure to wow even the queen.

If you haven’t joined Lady Whistledown in following the Bridgerton family’s quest for finding eldest daughter Daphne a husband, well, you’re seriously missing out. Aside from the romance, the series—set in England’s Regency era—also boasts a feast for the eyes of viewers and event designers alike with its over-the-top balls, garden parties and more.

While we can’t fill a ballroom just yet, if you’re looking for inspiration for a socially distant in-person gathering or a virtual event setup, keep scrolling for feathered floral arrangements, catering fit for high tea and other steal-worthy event ideas that will transport guests to early 1800s Regency England.

In the 19th century, eventgoers had oil paintings on canvas to remember their night. Today, we have Ontario-based MDRN Photo Booth Company putting a 21st-century twist on the classic paintings with technology that will not only produce a picture in a lot less time, but will also allow for guests to share their Bridgerton-style photo rendering on social media. “I started with building out a backdrop set that felt royal and moody,” says Catalina Bloch, MDRN Photo Booth Company’s creative director. “The photobooth itself is built to look like a painter’s easel with a 55-inch TV serving as the canvas that will display the oil painting image once rendered.” For a live event, this setup starts at $5,000 for three hours and includes the backdrop, furniture, custom booth, filter and branding, plus 8x10 prints for guests and an on-site attendant dressed up for the occasion.

To truly immerse your guests in over-the-top scenes characteristic to Bridgerton, B Floral in New York City offers the ultimate focal point for your event: a life-size weeping tree and hanging installation, with elements of wisteria and green amaranthus that draws on the tree shown in the show’s opening credits. Complementary arrangements throughout the venue would be inspired by the show’s subdued pastel colors with lush hydrangeas, lilacs, sweet peas and garden roses, with feathered and gold foliage accents.

Accessories include ornate headbands, earrings, tiaras, necklaces and rings, and are sure to put guests in the Regency mindset.

Nothing says 19th century interior design quite like elaborate wallpapers, so Design Foundry in Maryland is offering just that: wallpapers and fabric prints with bright jewel colors and a mix of bold prints. The designs also serve as a great Instagram-moment background, “so we set up a wig selfie station with a mix of cutout and 3D paper wigs,” says Design Foundry CEO and creative director Annie Senatore. When brainstorming ways to put a modern spin on the Regency era, Senatore notes that she would “use the design again in bar fronts, throw cushions and fabric drapes for a fun way to achieve a formal look. I would also paint the design on to wooden floors as ‘carpets’ under seating arrangements.”

Looking for favorable remarks from Lady Whistledown? Look no further than Artists Creating Entertainment (ACE) in Los Angeles, offering event entertainment that channels Bridgerton’s timeless romanticism with violinists, dancers and themed characters and backdrops. “I would tap into the distinct fashions of the Featherington girls by adding some flair with peacock-inspired costumes and a pop of yellow in homage to Penelope,” explained ACE owner Masha Berenboym. To bring the Regency architecture to life, the entertainment agency can employ a dancing candelabra, and for an outdoor affair, cue the sparklers and fireworks for a grand finale.

Experiential design and creative event management company Akire Productions in Chicago can start a Bridgerton-themed evening with a custom invitation signed by Lady Whistledown and sealed with a branded wax crescent closure. “We would create an experience of being on set for a garden party or ball,” says Akire Productions’ executive producer and president Erika Lohmar. Guests would receive a haute period piece to wear, such as a pocket watch or feather for your hair, and AFR Furniture Rentals would be tapped to provide velvet couches and patterned rugs for a regal gathering experience. “Grab your dance card and your suitor for a drink and a dance—in your 6-foot square, of course!”
