Viand Restaurant Creates Red and Blue Menus for Election Season

Chicago chef Steve Chiappetti is "reaching across the aisle" chef-style with "Democrat vs. Republican" menus crafted for Viand. Served Labor Day (September 1) through Election Day (November 4), the specially tailored, prix-fixe menus are each $20.08 and feature a choice of appetizer and entrée and a selected dessert. Both menus are inspired by political figures from the past and present. "The Democrat" includes such liberal offerings at "Carter Cuban Black Bean Soup," "Al Gore's Save the Salmon," and "Bill Clinton's Cherry Pie." "The Republican" features dishes like "Cheney's Quail Hunter Surprise," "Reagan's Show-Stopping Sole with Russian Caviar," and "Bush's Simple Apple Pie." No word if you can cross party lines and combine items from each menu for a bipartisan meal.
