Though the Parkhomes at Lakeshore East, a 15-year project overseen by Magellan Development Group L.L.C., will not be entirely complete for years to come, roughly 200 Chicagoans got a sneak peek at the property during a cocktail party co-hosted by CS magazine, which took place in its sales center last night.
Among the attendees was Top Chef winner Stephanie Izard, who led a cooking demonstration in the onsite test kitchen. "We built the kitchen exactly for this purpose—so that we could host events featuring chefs of Stephanie's caliber," said Robin Loewenberg Berger, chief marketing offer at Magellan Development Group.
Izard collaborated with Greg Christian Catering to develop "Stephanie Izard's apple cocktail," and the catering firm provided appetizers such as prosciutto-wrapped cheese and heirloom tomato and goat cheese crostini. The chef tie-in extended to the event's beneficiary: Common Threads, the food-focused charity that hosted a big fund-raiser we covered in March, received all proceeds from aprons that were sold at the door.
Throughout the evening, guests could learn more about the property's townhomes (several of which are already complete) by wandering through a display kitchen and living room; flat-screen TVs also broadcast information about the development.
