Platine Cookies—helmed by chef and founder Jamie Cantor, whose résumé includes a stint at the French Laundry—has opened a new Culver City retail bakery. Among the items that Platine has introduced at the new shop are a line of mignardises, or a variety of minature, individual sweets suitable for a dessert buffet or passed service. The mignardises start at around $1 each for individual baby cakes and range to about $2.50 per piece for long-stem chocolate-dipped strawberries (with a minimum order of 20). Platine also offers a line of what it calls Couture Cookies, a good match for events or gifts since they are customizable in nearly any shape, theme, or color. All Platine cookies and desserts are made in small batches using high-quality natural ingredients.
