These new caterers can deliver sweets to meetings or events.
1. Founded in August, Yumcakes specializes in custom cupcakes. Owner and pastry chef Erika Durham can prepare as many as 3,000 of the treats, and can deliver goods to offices or event spaces in the city and suburbs. The desserts come in flavors such as lemon lavender, red velvet, and Mexican hot chocolate, and Durham can decorate the cakes with anything from candy butterflies to corporate logos. Orders require at least 48 hours' notice, and Durham requests a month's notice for logoed cakes.
2. Set to launch in early 2011, Sweet Ride is a mobile bakery stocked with cupcakes, whoopie pies, puddings, and mousses. Sweet Ride staffers can prepare dessert buffets, takeaway gifts, and custom cupcakes, and the truck can travel to offices and event spaces in the city and suburbs. Orders require at least 24 hours' notice and a minimum of a dozen treats. There is no maximum order size.
