1. CANADIAN CUISINE THE NEXT TREND?: While Nordic food continues to be the trendiest cuisine, Canadians think they could be on the verge of their own moment. Wishful thinking? Notable chefs, including Rene Redzepi of the famous Noma in Copenhagen, weigh in. 3. FANS CRASH BEN & JERRY'S SITE: Marking Ben & Jerry's 34th annual Free Cone Day promotion, fans overloaded the company's Web site Tuesday—likely looking up participating store locations. Los Angeles Times: "The company said it has given away free scoops during an annual celebration since its first anniversary in 1979 as a way to show gratitude to its customers. 4. 'AMALIE' ACTRESS NAMED CANNES OFFICIANT: French actress Audrey Tautou was named mistress of ceremonies for next month's Cannes film festival. Women's Wear Daily: "The Amélie star walked the red carpet in Prada at Cannes last year, when her film Thérèse Desqueyroux was screened at the closing ceremony of the prestigious festival. For the 66th edition of the event, she will preside over both the opening ceremony on May 15 and the prize-giving conclusion on May 26."

COAST TO COAST: The Entertainment Industry Foundation Revlon Run/Walk for Women will take place in New York and Los Angeles next month. Emma Stone and Olivia Wilde will host the New York event May 4, and Halle Berry will host in Los Angeles on May 11 with co-hosts Brooke Anderson of Entertainment Tonight and Dancing with the Stars' Carrie Ann Inaba. The event raises money to support women's cancer research, counseling, and outreach programs.

BOSTON: Eater's list of the "38 Essential Boston Restaurants" has been released, and it includes spots such as Puritan & Company, West Bridge, and Island Creek Oyster Company. http://bit.ly/Z62nS9

CHICAGO: Here's an interesting menu idea: Journeyman Distillery will join 2 Sparrows for a "Bacon & Bourbon Bonanza" during Chicago's Whiskey Fest April 26. The dinner's courses are inspired by breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert, and the meal includes French toast with whiskey-maple syrup, a PB&J grilled cheese with bacon, and a chocolate-bacon brownie.

Modern Vintage Chicago will take place April 20-21 at Plumber's Hall. The show has more than 90 vendors and new attractions including the "Gentleman's Quarters" with cufflinks, vintage sunglasses, and more; vintage makeup touch-ups from Estée Lauder and Saks Fifth Avenue; a DJ spinning '60s hits; and old-school cocktails from Market Bar. 

LAS VEGAS: The Las Vegas Hospitality Association announced 11 new members from these businesses: Black Canyon River Adventures, Lakeshore Audiovisual, Liquid Courage, Mob Attraction, Naakiti Floral Design, Neon Museum, Prop Gallery Events, Sugar Factory, T Music Entertainment Group, and Table 23.

LOS ANGELES: El Corazon de Costa Mesa will open its doors on April 20 in Costa Mesa.

Artisan named Daniel Green the restaurant's general manager. In June, the restaurant plans to move to its new location at 843 12th Street in Paso Robles.

The 29th annual Southland Theatre Artists Goodwill Event at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills Saturday, which featured the theme “Broadway, My Way,” raised more than $285,000 for HIV/AIDS direct care, education, and advocacy services offered by AIDS Project Los Angeles.

NEW YORK: Wine Enthusiast's 25th anniversary celebration, the Red and White Bash, is May 9 at Hudson Hotel. Event planner Adam Aleksander is designing the event with a theme inspired by the Belle Epoque, Moulin Rouge, and a twisted, vintage carnival. Guests are encouraged to dress in red and white attire. Proceeds will benefit Wine to Water, a charity bringing clean drinking water to developing countries.

TORONTO: Drake Hotel Properties is opening its first stand-alone restaurant, Drake One Fifty, in early summer at 150 York Street. The former 6,000-square-foot bank will seat 175 guests and include a dining room, a bar, a micro-Drake General Store, curated art and performance space, and a 70-seat patio. The restaurant will be available for private bookings.

The Stop's Night Market, a fund-raising event held in the Honest Ed's alleyway and parking lot, will be held over two nights this year to meet demand for tickets. Slated for June 18-19, the event will showcase one-of-a-kind food carts created by local designers; it will serve snacks from some 60 chefs. 

The Green Living Show will be at the Direct Energy Centre April 12-14. Attractions will include designer runway shows, a yoga and fitness pavilion, and a KidZone with crafts and workshops.
