There were more than 300 pairs of Rockette legs at this party. To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Rockettes, a simple cocktail party was held at Radio City Music Hall in honor of all former and current dancers. It was a giant Rockette reunion, with hundreds of alumni who flew in from around the country to celebrate and reunite with their former dance colleagues. The party followed a short event that was held on Sixth Avenue in front of Radio City earlier in the day.
Match Catering and Eventstyles put out a simple spread of fresh berries, crudites, chicken and beef skewers, breads and cheeses. The giant Rockettes-doll decorated cake (made mostly of Styrofoam) used a few hours earlier at the afternoon event was on display behind slices of real chocolate and white cake. The room was decorated with beautiful red dahlia arrangements by Marian Kelly Fine Flowers.
Charles Dolan, chairman of Cablevision (the company owns Radio City), gave a short speech congratulating the dancers, and reminisced fondly about the first time he saw a Rockettes performance.
