Munich-based law firm Meissner Bolte & Partners hosted a cocktail party and buffet luncheon with a German theme for more than 550 clients for the International Trademark Association's annual meeting. Kay Rupprecht, LL.M Partner of Meissner, Bolte & Partners, retained San Diego-based Waters Fine Catering—the two firms have a 10-year working relationship—to oversee the event, held at the Fermenting Cellar in the Distillery District. Waters teamed up with local outfit Opulence Catering and Events to identify area suppliers and execute the event plan.Andrew Spurgin, Waters' chef and executive director, chose an English garden decor motif because "English gardens are one of the most common sights in Munich." Opulence worked with Eden Planning to embellish the raw Fermenting Cellar space with English garden design elements, including topiaries, faux stone arches, waterfalls, and garden-style bench seating. Other steps were taken to advance the German theme. Waters flew in a seven-piece brass band from Munich to perform on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. And Opulence provided a quintessentially German spread, starting with passed appetizers such as beer and cheese soup shooters and mini meatloaf sandwiches on German rye bread with Bavarian spicy mustard. When lunch got underway, guests filled their plates at buffet stations offering rostis, schnitzel, and dessert such as deep fried apples and cinnamon.
